A Visual Essay
Postmodernism seeks to critique the idealized version of progress and the future defined in the core of modernism. Since it is a broad and encompassing way of thinking about our modern conditions of life, postmodernism ignores the idea to transform into an ideal, but rather simply accepts what we have in the present and what is popular. Order is replaced with options, reason is replaced with expression. Postmodernism rejects rules as a means to a unified end and works to free the designer to do whatever feels right—right now.
This visual essay explores the rejection of modernist ways of thinking and looks at how topics of postmodernism reflect on society and culture.
