Spring Thesis Forum

To Be Defended

Each semester, MFA students starting their thesis research present their topics to faculty and invited guests in order to help find comittee members and take suggestions on research direction and topic. The collateral for the thesis forum includes a poster to promote the event, an event program, and a save the date card for invited faculty.

The imagery for each event piece touches on a different part of the thesis process. The poster shows a chair, which is a literal reference for finding a committee chair, the save the date, which shows a floppy disk referencing the numerous saves and back-ups for the thesis writing, and the program, showing a presentation easel for the format of the forum.

TBD is a play on the abbreviation of to be determined but replaced with to be defended to be more thematic with the thesis process.

Poster

The poster is tall and narrow, which makes it stand out from the common 11in × 17in poster size common to the hallways.

Save the Date

The save the date is a small card with a small interactive component. To fully complete the card, the recipiant should fold, cut, and glue the bottom of the card to assemble it into a free-standing reminder. Since the card is dimensional, it will be less likely to be lost under a clutter of desk paperwork.

Program

The program for thesis forum is a folded letter size sheet with one side having a cover and a notes section and the other having thesis abstracts written by the presenters. The programs are given to everyone in attendance.
